You are right. We have to work on that.

But I'm not sure if it's a huge problem in real life. Most of our current 3rd party apps don't have the level of quality that your apps have so that they actually run on different ownCloud version without problems :-)

For example I'm quite sure that the current user_saml would break an ownCloud 6 if someone would just click on "enable" in the app installer. 

Things will be better in the future with our improved public API for apps and we will enforce the usage of the stable API by enabling the code checker by default.
So I hope that we have a way better backward compatibility for ownCloud 6+
