Replying to myself, but I kept playing with it and got the attached screenshot 
where there is an overlap between two pictures.

I ran the following on a konsole [adapt to your favorite shell] "repeat 1000 
{ sleep 3; touch foto.jpg }" as a stress test and played around resizing a 
konqy window. when foto.jpg is half at the border, then there is a bug which 
is triggered - not always, but playing around I can reproduce.

The stupid thing is that once the pictures are like that it is not 
immediatelly obvious how to get rid of it. Resizing won't help, it's sticky.

Can you look into this? You probably know your code better than me.
