Just a one unimportant question, though:

Why introduce slotRearrangeIcons(int,int) if you are ignoring the parameters? 
You can connect a signal to one which takes less parameters (maybe you 
weren't aware of this).

There is a small difference with connecting contentsMoving directly to 
slotRearrangeIcons() - is that the disconnect doesn't happen at exactly the 
same points?
Is this necessary?

But the effect is great: it updates at exactly the right time (no more, no 
less).
