Thank you for pointing this out. In order to avoid any issue, on my
Windows 11 laptop, I did the following steps:
1 - I downloaded directly digiKam-8.4.0-Qt6-Win64.exe from download.kde.org
2 - I closed digiKam and checked that no digiKam processes were left
(none were found)
3 - I ran digiKam-8.4.0-Qt6-Win64.exe which uninstalled the previous
version and installed the new one without any issue. At the end of the
installation, I unchecked the checkbox asking if I wanted to execute
digiKam (I want to be able to move the installer, and sometimes this is
not possible if the installer executes something).
4 - I executed digiKam, and it loaded without any issue (no white
window). digiKam only complained about not finding exiftool, which I
solved easily by downloading and installing it (I only had an old version).
Digikam 8.4.0 seems to be running fine. Thanks to the dev team!
