rating missing in thumbnails

Hi all

using DK 8.4 on windows

I generated a JPG with an external application (DxO). Metadata are 
correct except the rating which is missing in the album view , but 
present in the metadata view (exiftool/exif/rating 2)
If I refresh using "read metadata from file to database" , rating is 
appearing correctly
Question : why this is no more automatic ? (was correct in previous 
version).  Is there a particular setting for this behavior?
