<div class="moz-cite-prefix">Thank you for pointing this out. In
order to avoid any issue, on my Windows 11 laptop, I did the
following steps:<br>
1 - I downloaded directly digiKam-8.4.0-Qt6-Win64.exe from
download.kde.org<br>
2 - I closed digiKam and checked that no digiKam processes were
left (none were found)<br>
3 - I ran digiKam-8.4.0-Qt6-Win64.exe which uninstalled the
previous version and installed the new one without any issue. At
the end of the installation, I unchecked the checkbox asking if I
wanted to execute digiKam (I want to be able to move the
installer, and sometimes this is not possible if the installer
executes something).<br>
4 - I executed digiKam, and it loaded without any issue (no white
window). digiKam only complained about not finding exiftool, which
I solved easily by downloading and installing it (I only had an
old version).<br>
<br>
Digikam 8.4.0 seems to be running fine. Thanks to the dev team!<br>

<div>Subject: HELP: After update 8.3--> 8.4 Digikam workspace
is entirely white </div>
<div><br>
</div>
</div>
My system is Win 11 Pro with much more than the minimum operating
requirements.<br>
In all the years I have used and updated digiKam, I have never had
this experience.<br>
<br>
<ol>
<li>I used the internal check for updates and used it to
download 8.4.</li>
<li>I started the download and got an error message. <br>
</li>
<li>After many retry attempts. I closed that window and went
directly to downloads.</li>
<li>I started the update, and prepared to uninstall.</li>
<li>digiKam was closed and I got this:</li>
<li>After many retry attempts, I selected Ignore<img
alt="DK appears running, please close"
src="cid:part1.vCf8FAWj.AH9XNu9G@orrenterprises.us"
onmouseover="imageMousePointerUpdate(true)"
onmouseout="imageMousePointerUpdate(false)"
moz-do-not-send="true" width="251" height="400"></li>
<li>Uninstall seemed to have worked, and Install started with
this:<img alt="Digikam Install DK appears running"
src="cid:part2.juv2bqSV.edbyeqBm@orrenterprises.us"
onmouseover="imageMousePointerUpdate(true)"
onmouseout="imageMousePointerUpdate(false)"
moz-do-not-send="true" width="259" height="400"></li>
<li>After many retry attempts, I selected Ignore.</li>
<li>When digiKam restarted, I got this: <img
alt="Failed Start Digikam"
src="cid:part3.1GvcQzrS.tyxUuOOV@orrenterprises.us"
onmouseover="imageMousePointerUpdate(true)"
onmouseout="imageMousePointerUpdate(false)"
moz-do-not-send="true" width="593" height="400"></li>
<li>Then I rebooted and reinstalled, doing essentially all the
steps above with much the same results.</li>
<li>I did this a couple of times at least.</li>
<li>Then I went to the download.kde.org site for
digiKam-8.4-Qt6-Win64.exe and replace the initial
digiKam-8.4.0-Qt5-Win64.exe with another one.</li>
<li>This one opened OK.</li>
</ol>
I have never had to struggle so much to do an digiKam update in
any of the previous ones.<br>
I am baffled by the process, and pleased to have then new system
up and running.<br>
<br>
Good work, team. I'm rooting for you always.<br>
