Hi,
first of all, I would like to thank everyone who was at Akademy for
the energy of these days.
It has been really motivating and inspiring, and it has definitely
marked the biggest turn-point in all of WikiFM/WikiToLearn's history.
I am now looking forward to capitalize all this energy. =)

In the last couple of days I had two meetings in two different cities:
as a result of the first, we now have the formal interest of two major
universities in Marseille, which could kickstart the French
WikiToLearn. We don't have any certainty for the moment (things are
slower since most people are on leave), but this is possibly very
exciting.

For the second meeting, I was remotely connected to the presentation
of our project that Dario made at CNAF in Bologna. The people there
are looking into developing a remote desktop solution which is very
similar to ours. After some talk, it seems like the researchers there
are very interested about what we have done, and we have the
possibility to tighen our relationship.
In particulare, we are investigating the feasibility of a
technological exchange: my idea is that we act as testers and provide
our experience and software, and we get some VM hosting as a donation
in return.

This is particularly exciting for us, because it would place us in a
particularly sweet spot: we'd be an open project with both a strong
community and access to powerful datacenter-grade hardware, right from
the beginning. It means being able to start-up without worrying about
fundraising or governance, and with shoulders big enough to target
(and achieve) important results.

These are the two institutes that could provide us with hosting:
https://www.cnaf.infn.it/en/
http://recas.ba.infn.it/recas1/index.php/recas-ba/datacenter

For obvious reasons, I would like to keep this negotiation private and
off-list (for the time being), but if anyone feels like (s)he's
interested to partecipate in the discussion, please write and I will
kickstart an inclusive round of mails.

This concludes my report on the events of these past two days, we seem
to have exciting days ahead of us! ;-)

Have lots of fun!

-Riccardo
