Hi Ric. The mouse button problem still exists in Mandriva Linux
2010.1 desktop 2.6.33.7-2 kernel with KDE-4.3.5 and
x11-server-xorg-1.7.7-1mdv2010.1, Release Date: 2010-05-04. I have now noticed
that the problem seems to be within KDE-4.3.5 after doing several mouse button
operations to focus KDE application windows up top on the screen. It's like KDE
goes out of sync and the left mouse pick button becomes disabled and the right
mouse button then becomes the Minimize and Maximize toggle function of the
current application window. The only way I can get out of this mode is to do a
[CTRL][ALT][BackSpace] to reset x11 and relog in again.

Just any Microsoft two button serial mouse will have the same behavior. I am
not using any special accessibility options in KDE-4.3.5. However, when I dow a
lot of clicking and cut and paste operations that's when both mouse buttons
become disable. Also, just before this happens, the mouse cursor gets a
cancel/termination icon attached to the lower right corner of the normal mouse
cursor arrow and if I click either of the two mouse buttons, this
cancel/termination icon disappears and both mouse buttons stop functioning. Yet
the normal mouse cursor is displayed and tracks normally with mouse movements.

I am still working on the IBM PS/2 mouse interface adapter for my Rat pointing
device. The guy who is helping me do the physical work on it has be busy with a
death in his family and being sick with a flu, etc. However, sometime this week
he will be back to help me with it again.

I haven't tried another windows manager, such as gnome, etc. Maybe I should if
it won't screw up the KDE-4.3.5 install?

Thank you,

David A. Smith
