I increased the cache limit to 2048000000 and reduced jpeg images to 400 pixels, 60% compression, progressive. With this Tellico worked as expected (Left column: filtered groups, center column: covers as gallery with three or five images wide without delays, right column: selected book tab). 

The detail is the high use of memory and the size of the images that remained as miniatures rather than beautiful covers. 

With memory you should do some tests to lower the amount to an optimal value. 

With the images you would have to have an additional copy without reducing the covers and find a way to link them to the book in question so as not to lose that additional information (perhaps with a new field of link to the original cover, a little spreadsheet and csv import).

The important thing for me is to understand that it is about my data and not Tellico’s capabilities, so I can keep working on it.
