I'll look at the code and see if it's do-able then, although I suspect
that you're right and it would be a lot of work to write out different
tags. There are some programs that will do it, but they mostly appear
to be commercial Windows software.

iTunes/iPods do not support v2.4 (I've been having various tag-related
problems and I finally figured out that this was the cause), nor does
anything based on id3lib (which is quite a lot of software). Some more
recent software doesn't either, although it certainly should (e.g. --
Galleon HME software for TiVo) and I'll let the author of that project
know about the issue.
