This is not supposed to work. You always need to start the rkward binary.

Hm. I don't have any good idea on what may be the problem. Are there any messages
to the console?

If you start with
# rkward --debug-level 5
Could you post the output of that (after the crash) somewhere? (This generates
a whole lot of output, so the forum is not going to be the best place to post
it. Maybe zip it up, and post to rkward-devel, instead).
