Well, that message is rather unspecific. Essentially it's just saying
that something crashed the backend. In Warren's case, the cause - and
the solution - are both well known.
In your case I don't know. One of my first guesses would be that we
have some sort of problem - again - with some or all binary packages not
being compiled correctly, again (e.g. wrong compiler). But yes, it's
really hard to tell without a good idea on how to reproduce.
Was that problem with .sav-files really a backend exit, or "only" no
longer working? I have previously found import of .sav files to be quite
fragile across different versions of R, too... No crashes, though.
BTW, Meik, are Mac bundles buildable, again? I'd like to start going
towards a 0.6.3 release, soon (only item on my personal list is
completing the rework of distributions plugins).
