sorry I haven't had time to look at your stuff... I *finally* got some code time 
today, so the stuff the activity manager will share with the widget explorer is 
factored out. :)
I'm working in a gitsvn branch here: http://gitorious.org/random-
crap/plasmagenericshell/commits/refactor
currently it compiles and mostly works - just the tooltips are blank. that'll 
be easy to fix but I'm tiiired now.
the next stange is to actually start writing the activity manager UI itself... 
meep.

oh and aseigo, how much do you know about the class formerly known as 
AppletIconWidget? it does all its own painting, and has some odd-looking 
sizing code, and I'm wondering if I can't just replace it with a subclass of 
Icon and get things like corner-icons for free. it's either that or I 
copy&paste in the corner-icon code for the activities version...
