Here goes my 2cents:
I agree the current behavior (auto-hiding before the job completes) is
often misleading.
I agree that having the icon animated would help a lot... BUT... With
a dual monitor setting, let's say I have a couple dolphin windows on
screen 1 and the systray is on screen 2. Then if I do some
copying/moving operations with dolphin, I might very well not notice
that something is happenning near the systray. This is not just random
thinking, it occurred to me many times. It might also be true with
only one, large (read 30"), monitor. So I think that the dolphin
window(s) that are involved in the job should also have some kind of
progress indication. Note that they already have some: they display a
message in the status bar when the job is finished. But I think they
should also indicate the progress of the job while it executes.
