This one is likely not plasma specific. It's probably some interaction between 
KStandardDirs and the set environment variables. Should somehow show up with 
kde4-config too, or some other systems using KStandardDirs (like the device 
actions for instance).

I've a similar issue here because I install in /d which is a symlink to a real 
folder. cmake uses the resolved version while I use /d in my env. That's 
probably something similar at play there. I never bothered to hunt this one 
down since it happens only in my build setup.
