Text along side the icon seams to me to be the sandard, the places were it is 
difrent is places were the icons are actualy big like filebrowsers. and in 
those places you alrady know you willl have to scroll and probaly want big 
icons so you can have nice previews (also its already a collum/rows view  so 
the placement of the text makes litle difrence as you area alrady reding 
colums) .
As far as i can tell prety much every were else the standard is icon text 
alongside specialy wen the icon is small as they are in the toolbars.
