Worksforme, if the computer-tab is active and I hover the history on my way 
up, with reasonable speed, it does not get activated.

How did you manage to navigate the old menu? The area when going through 
categories was almost only a fifth of what kickoff's top tab-width is. So you 
must have missed the right entry quite often.

What about the following: lock the tab on click until kickoff is closed or the 
user clicks on another tab. That way you do not need an UI and those that can 
handle their pointing-device are not bothered either.
