I think "reasonable speed" is the part my laptop has trouble with.

I used it as rarely as possible.
also, the width of menu entries is a lot more than the width of kickoff tabs;
I think that helped me a bit.

meh. I'm fine with the way it is now, I'm just pointing out that it's not 100%
foolproof.
this proposal rings a bell, though... wasn't it suggested once before? I
actually thought it worked this way until I tried it.
