[Marble-devel] Placemarks display

Hi,

Investigating making openseamap available inside marble, one of the areas is
display of harbour guide information. One of the options I investigate is
using KML files, containing placemarks with an associated icon and url or
urls.

Using the development version of marble, I can open the files and search for
the contents, but icons are not displayed in the map, and the associated URLs
are not in any way available.

The file I found is linked through a KML netlink element, which appearently is
used in google earth to display placemarks from remote locations.

If displaying the icons and providing the URLs (for example in a popup menu)
was possible in marble, integrating this sort of placemark collections in a
map theme would be very easy.

So my question is if there are plans to implement this feature, or if not so
if you think it would be a nice idea?

The alternative is to provide a render plugin, which could be a generic one
that could open user provided kml files, and even use the "net link" kml
element, often provided as an easy extension for google earth.

Which is the best way to go?
