The same is true of all the KML_GSOC #ifdefs, isn't it?  I have thought of 
doing that, but I postponed it because I hadn't talked to the people 
involved.  So, what do you say, could I just enable it?  The time is right 
for it now, I think.

I think it's fine, but the projection issues need to be taken care of.
