How can i make kate behaviour go back to normal?

It's inconsistent with all the rest of KDE apps, they look the same but behave 
different and even more important it's inconsistent with kate itself. 
Why would be the reason for the settings dialog to not be a dialog but the 
configure shortcuts dialog is still a dialog?

I don't understand this, how can you change settings without reopening it 
every time now?

This seems backwards to me, with the old way, one could go to the themes 
editor, change a color, press apply and see it happen live on the text, 
something that you can't do now.

It should not, that's why modeless dialogs exist. But just to be clear, the 
new way is blocking the editor, i can't type while the settings are open 
either.

See how the "Close" button goes out of screen (the part where i vigorously 
move the mouse cursor around second 16)

Ideally don't commit unfinished features, my brain hates that item so much that 
I'm close to stop using kate (yes I understand that's my personal problem, not 
yours).
