Didn't hear from that. Where can I get it? Btw, "Porting" means converting the 
MS Intel inline assembly to gcc's AT&T inline assembly syntax, creating a 
wrapper for the API and compiling it. Basically simple, but it's some 
annoying work.

No. This plugin uses Overlay, it transfers the image directly into the 
graphics card. It's mentioned in the docs, and I already tried tried to grab 
into an arbitrary buffer, it does not work. Anyway, it wouldn't do anything 
else that the v4l plugin does. And it runs on the XFree server side.

May be, the only ones I checked out so far were all GPL.
