Kolab uses OpenPKG, which uses RPM internally. It wont affect your Debian
install in any way (it is self contained). I would recommend against using 
something like alien in this instance.

You can get the Debian 3 (I think this is Sarge?) binaries at www.zfos.org
and save yourself some trouble compiling if you are interested.

Nope as mentioned, Kolab is self-contained with its own package database.
You will find the postfix config for Kolab under /kolab/etc/postfix
You should edit the template files in /kolab/etc/kolab (main.cf.template and
master.cf.template) and then execute /kolab/etc/kolab/kolab -v -o to propogate
the config files.

Not at all, just grab the kde-pim and kde-network packages and install them on
