No, I did not. I simply issued:
/etc/init.d/kolab stop
mv /etc/init.d/kolab /etc/init.d/kolab-1.0-rc1.bak
mv /kolab /kolab-1.0-rc1
cd <kolab-1.0 packages directory>
sh openpkg-...sh
/kolab/bin/rpm -ivh *.rpm
/kolab/etc/kolab/kolabbootstrap -b
/etc/init.d/kolab start
