I can't figure out what happened, now I can see the images, even though it
is just a thumbnail.
I am sure that the source image was not missing.
There are some size-issue showing raw images, some of the "wrong" sizes are
in Gewnview, but there happens funny things in KPhotoalbum.
|--------+------+-----------+-----------+----------------------+-----------------------+------------------------|
| EOS | Raw | dcraw | Gwenview | KPhotoalbum 5.6.1 |
KPhotoalbum 5.8.1 | Kphotoalbum master |
|--------+------+-----------+-----------+----------------------+-----------------------+------------------------|
| 1D | .tif | 2496x1662 | 288x192 | 288x192 |
288x192 | 288x192 |
| 300D | .crw | 3088x2056 | 2048x1360 | 3088x2056 |
3088x2056 | 3088x2056 -> 2048x1360 |
| 1DmkII | .cr2 | 3522x2348 | 1536x1024 | 384x256 -> 1536x1024 |
1536x1024 | 1536x1024 |
| 70D | .cr2 | 5496x3670 | 5472x3648 | 684x456 -> 1368x912 | 5472x3648
-> 1368x912 | 5472x3648 -> 1368x912 |
|--------+------+-----------+-----------+----------------------+-----------------------+------------------------|
- All optional dependencises for building 5.6.1, 5.8.1 and master=33e7fe80
are installed (according to output from cmake).
- dcraw: Convert image via "dcraw image.<raw>" and open generated ppm file
in Qwenview
- Gwenview: Reported size of raw-image
- Kphotoalbum 5.6.1: Same result no matter if installed via "apt install
kphotoalbum" on linuxmint 20.2 or build from source.
- Kphotoalbum 5.8.1 build from source
- Kphotoalbum master=33e7fe80 build from source
In Kphotoalbum rows the -> is used if the size is changed between
- 1: Initial creation of init.xml, exif-info.db and .thumbnails, Save,
Close KPA
- 2: Reopen KPA viewing the images, Save.
If viewing the images without save, close and reopen, then the size is the
initial size in 5.6.1(installed via apt).
In 5.8.1 and master=33e7fe80 the result is the final size (1368x912) no
matter close+reopen or not.
Each test starts from a directory only with the raw images and executiong
path_to/kphotoalbum --db dir_with_images/index.xml (index.xml does not
exist).
Hope that it makes sense. The issue is not very important, even though it
would be nice to see the full size images :-).
*Missing (optional) dependencies - libkdcraw not installed?*
Is there something I should install prior to re-building KPhotoalbum?
I have installed libraw19, but no libkdcraw, is that a problem, when:
dpkg -l |grep -i '\(libkdcraw\|libraw\)'
ii libraw1394-11:amd64 2.1.2-1
amd64 library for direct access to IEEE 1394 bus (aka
FireWire)
ii libraw19:amd64 0.19.5-1ubuntu1
amd64 raw image decoder library

I have a .ufraw file placed together with the .tif file, I don't assume it
gives any problems, but just mentioning it.

I am not sure I understand you:
If mplayer2 isn't used any more then it is ok that KPhotoalbum not depends
on it.
