   Very good question for which I do not have any answer yet :-)

Here's a thought (that goes beyond the scope of your patch):

1) Add a new category, File Type.  This could be either the file
   extension (e. g. .jpg) or the image type (e. g. JPEG).  This
   category, of course, would be searchable.

2) Change the "Don't read RAW files if matching JPEG/TIFF file exists"
   to be selectable between:

   * Read RAW and matching JPEG/TIFF as separate images
   * Read RAW file as parent, and matching JPEG/TIFF as child
   * Read RAW file as child, and matching JPEG/TIFF as parent
   * Don't read RAW file if matching JPEG/TIFF exists.

I currently use Don't read RAW files if matching JPEG/TIFF file
exists.  If we implement my suggestion, I would use Read RAW file as
parent, and matching JPEG/TIFF as child.  Then it's easy for me to
select which one or ones I want.

If I have a mix of shots taken as JPEG vs. RAW, and I want to select
RAW where available but JPEG otherwise, I could simply select the
parents or something like that.
