One thing a few dialogs don't do automatically (but should) is make
the 'to' date instantly equal to the 'from' date. It looks weird, and is
cumbersome to use, a dialog where the end of the date range is earlier
than the start of the range, if you see what I mean.

I was thinking ages ago about how it'd be nice to select rough times
(evening, afternoon, morning) - perhaps a quick-button that selects
times of days inside of a multiple-day period. (Does that make sense?)
I thought this might be good when you knew you took a photo in the
evening, but can't recall when exactly .. it all helps to narrow the
 search.

Remembering the last date range you used is also essential and
obvious .. but lots of the standard KDE apps don't do this, which
is just plain weird. Nice if it remembered them between KimDaBa
 incarnations too, not just intra-session.

Maybe a quick-button that resets the start-date to the first recorded
date of any of your photos, and the end-date to the youngest photo.

Finally, I like these kinds of dialogs nice and BIG .. because they can
be really cumbersome and look uncomfortably busy if they're small.

No idea how this can be integrated 'seamlessly' with the extended
search by keyword/person/location thing .. but I'm sure you'll have fun.

 ;)
