Bold works again, although it noticably differs in behavior from KDE 3.5.3's Konsole. My guess is that bold worked in earlier versions only for non-colored text. 

My bash prompt uses a "1;31" color code for one of its sections. With this patch, this is interpreted als "bold light red". In 3.5.3 and earlier versions, it was interpreted only as "light red". Despite that, bold text in the output of various command line utilities I use worked fine in 3.5.3 (and stopped working in 3.5.4).

Interpreting it as "bold light red" is consistent with xterm, however. Time to find a light red that isn't bold for my prompt ;-)
