Sounds accurate to me. The only bold I'd noticed and cared about for years was in my PS1, which is non-coloured.

I've also noticed that directory names in 'ls' are showing up bold now, with --color=auto, which is consistent with xterm, so I'm inclined to believe this is a genuine improvement.
