I cannot reproduce this. Are you sure, that you don't mix it with others apps?
Shift-MMB doesn't work *for mouse-aware apps* in KDE 3.0, will again in 3.0.1.

Highlight, Ctrl-Shift-Insert pastes selection in Konsole.
