Package: konsole
Version: KDE 3.0.0
Severity: normal
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

When running a curses-based app in a konsole window (such as jed or pico), middle-click pasting (even using Shift) is broken.

It now requires using the 'paste' entry from the right-click menu, which in turn pastes only things which have been explicitly 'copied' to the kde clipboard.

Oddly, highlighted text in Opera is copied, but not so for text highlighted from kedit. So right now it's kind of hit and miss as to when something will be copied to the 'primary selection' (X text clipboard) by highlighting and when it will require an explicit 'copy' operation.

So what used to be a very rapid operation (highlight/shift-middle click) is now a cumbersome one: highligt, explicit copy (via menu or keyboard), shift-right-click, paste.

It's great that now kde implements a full copy/paste clipboard, but that should not have been done at the expense of breaking the old, efficient highlight/middle paste method that unix users have had access to for years. I know that Qt3 is supposed to offer the two systems, but it looks like there are still some rough edges in need of polish.
