It's probably best if you are more specific about the content of
messages.

You shouldn't need to delete columns - just don't select them to be
imported.  You might get a message towards the end of the parameter
selection about missing decimal points.  This may tend to happen with a
bank statement with separate debit and credit columns, where there are
no entries in one of those columns.  It's not an error, but is pointing
to a possible error when you selected those columns.  If you're happy
the column selection is correct, just carry on.  You may also get a
caution if a selected column on a particular row is empty, but that
could be because you haven't deselected a header row.  Again, you have
the option to go back and correct, or to proceed.

When you do finally get a successful import, make sure you click Finish
in the importer plugin, as that will save all your selections for the
future in the profile you selected or created.
