Hi Peter and welcome

It is always advisable to use the latest release available to you.  Two
possibilities here.  Going to Mint 11.04 will get you v4.5.3-2.  Even
the, v4.6 has just today been released, and is likely to be made
available by Claydoh on his PPA, so it's worth keeping an eye on that.

Now to your import problems.  No problems with the length of your
description - the more detail, the better.

It sounds like you are importing a number of accounts in one file, and
in theory that works.  But, much depends on the structure of your
file.  Is there any possibility of providing a copy direct to me, or an
extract that shows the problem?  It makes sense to edit private data,
but without changing the structure, if that's possible.
