Hello
My name is Peter and am relatively unfamiliar with lists so hope not to
make too many mistakes here.

I am electronics hardware technical but not very good with intracies of
software.

I have been trying for at least 6 months to migrate all programs in Win
XP to Linux Mint 9 or 10 and in particular MS Money 2006 small
business to any version of KMM available to me on Mint.

Mint 9 allows me to download KMM 1.0.4

Mint 10 gives me KMM 4.5.0

I have my accounts - bank and credit card all ok on MS Money.

I can update these files with downloaded bank info in QIF format with
no problem at all.

I can export/save/reimport each file completely/successfully in QIF
format in MsMoney.

Ms Money gives the option of exporting in "Loose QIF" format to avoid
truncating names/descriptions etc.

My frustration is that when I import a QIF file into either of the above
KMM versions, KMM seems to decide that all files belong to the asset
group and all are checking accounts.

Credit card accounts are imported as assets / checking accounts.

I am unable to change them.

Even after deleting all transactions in some of these accounts I cannot
delete the account in some cases - not all.

Even if I make a new credit card (liability) account I cannot import QIF
files directly to it.

If I move the transactions then I get duplicates without choice.

Most of the bank accounts import correctly as assets.

I have read some of the archives and this problem is alluded to by
Martin on Fri 29 July 2011 - something to do with leading zeros and a
bug report at http://bugs.debian.org/625993

A patch was mentioned but I do not know if this solves the same
problem and my knowledge is insufficient to know how to apply such
a patch if I had it.

Sorry for such a long explanation - just trying to be fairly explicit
as to what is happening.

My thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on what I may be
doing wrong before I lose all my greying hair.

Regards
