Possibly I'm misunderstanding, but with your anon file, when I opened 
A000149 there were two transactions involving E000087.   When I clicked 
on either, I got a tooltip saying 'cannot process transactions in 
Account A000299, which is closed'.  I reopened A000299, and could then 
edit those transactions.

Then, when I tried to open a new security, entering the symbol 
990286916, it was detected as an existing account.
