That's nice! Another thing: stock gimp doesn't handle the profiles, which 
takes a bit of time, the cvs head checkout of gimp I use offers to convert 
the sRGB profile to same sRGB profile and takes a lot of time doing that. 

One thing that may help is that we show the image scaled down to fit in the 
window, while Gimp shows it at 100% -- and therefore has to do less 
compositing. 

Checking with this image, I see that Gimp is just as slow as Krita when 
compositing this image.

We really need to show progress in all of koffice for filter loading.
