Dolphin icon not set when manually launching

what .desktop file should be used? there's no guarantee that there is a direct 
relationship between the name of the binary and the .desktop file to use. 
there are several cases where the .desktop file is named differently from the 
actually binary name.

we could go hunting through KSycoca for matching Exec= lines, but that seems a 
bit over kill to me just to avoid one line of code? also, IIRC, the icon used 
by default is the same as the application name passed in to KAboutData, so 
that should limit this even further?

this is an art direction issue, so it should be changed (if at all) in the 
icon theme, not in dolphin for KFilePlacesView.
