It would be nice if we could resolve this bug.

My suggestion is that we add some things to the: "Go" menu and which 
could be used as toolbar icons.

1.	An entry be added that would go to KGlobalSettings::documentPath() 
and be either "Home" or "User Files" depending on whether 'documentPath' 
was set to $HOME and show either the "go-home" or the "folder-personal" 
icon based on same.

2.	The current "Home" entry be converted to: "Web Home".  Add a word to 
the KCM so that it is: "Web Home URL" and change the default to: 
http://www.kde.org/, and change the icon to: "places/network" 
("actions/network" to be renamed).

The code for this is simple and I could finish it.  I have done 
something similar to my system.  Patch attached.  This is simple and I 
could finish this up if it would be used.

More elaborate changes would also improve this issue.

1.	Ad an entry "Places" to the "Go" and the toolbar icons.  This would 
be a sub menu of places to go.  This would be similar to Dolphin and 
show the icon of the place selected last.  This would need to be 
configurable by the user and I would suggest that "Places" also be added 
to the Navigation Panel (sidebar).

2. 	An alternate "Location Bar" which works like Dolphin be added.

These would be a little more complicated, but if Dolphin code can be 
used for them they shouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

IIUC, the main obstacle here is political.  I think that the bug is 
valid and that these are valid solutions.  And I do not understand the 
objections since the default could be exactly the same.

When the "View Profile" issues are resolved.  I hope that this can be 
split into configuration profiles and multiple tab bookmarks.  If we 
added the ability to include the *contents* of the toolbar in the 
configuration profile, then it would be possible for some of those that 
commented to have exactly what they want and it would be OK from a 
usability standpoint since the icon for Web Home and Home would be 
different -- no state issue.
