The added configuration item sounds good to me, I see no way to "improve the feature
so that no configuration is needed". Either MMB pastes or it doesn't.

But I guess the whole debate continues on whether the feature should be on or off by default...
On one hand it's an advanced feature so it's ok if people have to turn it on,
on the other hand it used to be enabled so the change in behavior might make
people think it's broken in the next release...
Let's just say I'm surprised that the patch deactivates MMB-pasting by default
(but if everyone is okay with that, I'm not objecting). I'm rather among the ones
who never really used MMB to paste, and only activated it by mistake.
