I know for a fact that KDevelop works decently with NFS, and I expect
that it'll also work okay with sshfs.

Running builds remotely is not an issue if you configure your project
as a custom build system project (it's what I do all the time).

Starting the application itself remotely is still a bit tricky.
Contacting and working with a remote gdbserver works in the KF5-based
master, but I still need to figure out the story for actually
launching that gdbserver.

Luckily we'll all soon be using Wayland, so this will become a non-issue.[0]
