Use the Mandrake tools to remove 3.0.4.
Get an official mandrake rpm for 3.1.1.

Find all installed files by hand (they are spreaded all over the system in 
many subdirectories, so it's not easy)
Get a non official mandrake 3.1.1 rpm and install it.
