Red Hat 8.0 and KDE

I was thinking about getting latest official version of KDE, by purchasing Red Hat 8.0.

I would do this from the RPM's, however, I understand and have personally experienced problems installing from the 
RPM's located at http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/pub/kde/stable/3.0.3/RedHat/7.3/i386/

Also I have heard rumors that Red Hat have !#@%@#4 around with KDE breaking some of it functionality to merge it with
GNOME. Is this true?

Any one out there cares to express there experiences using KDE, in particular kedevelop under Red Hat 8.0
