make dist problems (configure.in.in)

When I make dist a project built with kdevelop, the resulting tarball doesn't 
have configure.in.in included, though configure.in and configure are 
included. When I try ./configure
make: *** No rule to make target `configure.in.in', needed by `configure.in'. 
Stop.
How can I make the distribution tarball either include configure.in.in, or 
have the build process realise it doesn't need it since it has configure.in?

Also, how do I add doc/en/Makefile.in to the distribution?
