I had a look at your link, but IMHO this is an example for a normal/mini 
kde application which uses the panel.
I think a kicker app was intended to be sth. like mentioned in the 
description of Matthias Elter.

Maybe I'm wrong so Ian R. Geiser or Ralf Nolden should correct me... 
it's their child ;-)
