In this case (for Suse 6.3) the problem was the ttys couldn't be opened due to
no rw for "other" on /dev/pty*. There are a couple of issues that I need to
address here but the easy solution is to set /dev/pty* o+rw. If this error
happens again, an appropriate message should be displayed.

For debugging kdevelop with kdevelop, in the file kdevelop.kdevprj, change the
line "bin_program=kdevelop" to "bin_program=.libs/kdevelop". As Ben says the
libtool wrapper isn't really needed, but this is an easy work around.
