You're probably not the only one, that's why we made the general
configuration able to show/not show it.
I think each application should do this by a configuration option on
it's own.

Why hassle about the toolbar buttons ? We once had a set of new ones
that were a kind of artistic and nice, but the usability drops because
you have to learn the new icons on the user side. So keeping kind of
typical is helping beginners and even experienced users to quickly learn
how to use KDevelop and therefore we decided to just repaint some icons
for the build-options that were not very helpful.
