The screenshot you added in the "Auto-completion" section isn't a very
good screenshot to showcase auto-completion.
In fact, it doesn't even show KDevelop auto-completion at all... ;-)

The popup it shows is merely the generic Kate word-completion, which
offers suggestions based on all words which already exist within the
same document.

The real KDevelop semantic auto-completion shows much more useful
information, but of course it only works after the source file has
been parsed by KDevelop.
Which, in the screenshot, is clearly not the case (no syntax
highlighting!), probably because the file hasn't yet been saved...
