This comes under the heading 
       Projects-with-multiple-targets.

Bug/Feature, who knows, but I think it's pretty clear that 
source files named main.cpp, main.c, or that have "int main" 
somewhere in them, don't get put into object libraries.  Perhaps
there is an exception somewhere, but couldn't we just call that
"bad form."  Of course, since what I'm doing has multiple targest,
I'm already adding to Makefile.am's so this is mostly just 
something to think about I suppose.
