The integration of Akonadi/Nepomuk in KMail will bring indexing of local
mail. Indexing of mail on an IMAP server is impossible without
downloading all of the mail. For online IMAP downloading everything
doesn't really make much sense. Also, IMAP does support server-side
searching, so that indexing the mail locally is not really necessary.
Of course, it depends on the actual server how powerful/fast the
server-side search is.
