Actually you can trim more tracks simultaneously on several softwares. You can select the clips you want to trim and you can perform the action in just one passage (as explained on this tutorial for FCP 7):
https://larryjordan.com/articles/tutorial-trimming-multiple-clips/
I already added the trimming features request to the fabricator board.
I hope I was helpful.
Ciao.
Massimo.

Massimo,
thank you very much for your reply; after rereading your really comprehensive document and with your remark I now notice that "ripple edit" is exactly what I would like to see. As you want to add the trimming features to the board anyway I would rther refrain from adding the ripple feature myself.
In the past I was unsure whether ripple edit applies to a single track only, where the edit is, or to all tracks. It does apply to a single track only, correct?
Best regards, Harald

Hi Harald,
If I well understood you're just asking for a ripple trimming feature.
Yes this is one if the feature we are discussing about.
Anyway I guess it's better you ad it to the fabricator board where we are building the next roadmap.
https://phabricator.kde.org/project/view/40/
By the way I can tell you that I'll insert all the 4 trimming features in the board soon because I want to suggest all the feature I wrote about in my document published here:
https://kdenlive.org/node/9458
Thanks for asking.
Massimo Stella.

Hi Kdenlivers,
I would like to get feedback on a possible workflow improvement feature for Kdenlive in the hope that it is not too specific to my projects.
Alas, I'm doing tech educational videos in my day job. Video is actually my way to get important knowledge into the heads of my fellow workers, avoiding throwing large piles of printed paper at them.
I'm first recording illustrations I'm drawing on a tablet using an active pen (using an external HDMI recording box). This recording hasn't yet the proper timing for audio explanations that will be added later. Also, the raw footage has recorded UI interactions that I want to have in the final rendered video. So I basically cut the raw video into bits of drawing activity, joined by stills taken from the same raw footage. I thus have a single video track that basically is d1, s1, d2, s2, ... where d is a region with drawing, s are the stills. Alle clips are adjacent, but the still clips haven't their final length yet.
Next I record audio explanations (in Audacity) and do some minor audio cleanup. Then I drag the voice over onto an audio track. Now the daunting work follows where I need to get the d, s sequences in sync with audio. Basically, I need to resize the stills so that the next drawing clip will be in sync with the audio explanations.
What I would like to propose is a new edit mode where I can resize the right end of a clip, such as a still, even if there are adjacent clips to it. All other following clips on the same track will automatically move accordingly as the user resizes the clip.
To my understanding there isn't such an edit tool yet in Kdenlive; if I'm wrong I would be glad to learn where to find it! I'm also unsure if my proposal is actually one of the editing modes that were discussed here some time ago with respect to pro editing modes that Kdenlive currently lacks.
Best regards, Harald
